2027 Krewe of St. Andrews Parade Rules and Event Information
GENERAL RULES FOR ALL PARADES • SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS • EVENT DETAILS
This packet brings the rules, safety requirements, event schedules, and contact information for the Krewe of St. Andrews Kids Parade, Pet Parade, and Main Parade into one document. The general rules apply to every parade unless an event-specific section states otherwise.
General Rules and Regulations for All Parade Entries
- Each entry must submit the completed application and all required releases, waivers, supporting documents, and payments before it can be confirmed. A biography or entry description must be supplied when requested for parade announcements or television coverage.
- All participants must follow instructions from Krewe officials, law-enforcement officers, public-safety personnel, and event staff at staging, along the route, and during dispersal.
- Entries must provide their own approved Mardi Gras throws. Allowed throws include beads, doubloons, soft toys, soft candy, foam shapes, and plastic beads weighing no more than 4 ounces. Promotional throws are allowed only when they meet the requirements in this packet.
- Dangerous throws are prohibited. Do not throw objects that are heavy, sharp, pointed, wired, breakable, life-threatening, or otherwise capable of causing bodily injury.
- Entries may not distribute brochures, tracts, printed advertisements, coupons, or other paper products. Entries may not use amplified sound or other means to promote commercial, political, or religious messages.
- Keep the staging area clean and dispose of all trash. Unpack beads before arriving whenever possible, and leave the staging area in good condition.
- No alcoholic beverages may be consumed by parade participants before or during the parade. Intoxication, public disorder, abusive behavior, or unsafe conduct may result in immediate removal.
- No entry may exceed 13 feet in height. Any event-specific width, vehicle, animal, or route restriction must also be followed.
- The Krewe of St. Andrews and its officers, members, and participants are not responsible for loss of or damage to property or injury to participating parties.
- The Krewe of St. Andrews reserves the right to reject or remove any entry that is inappropriate, unsafe, disruptive, or not in compliance with these rules.
Family Friendly Standard
All entries, decorations, costumes, music, conduct, and throws must support a wholesome, family-friendly experience appropriate for children, adults, and seniors.
Entry Type and Safety Requirements
FLOATS • VEHICLES • MARCHING AND WALKING ENTRIES
Floats, Motorized and Other Vehicles
- Every driver operating a motorized vehicle must provide a valid driver's license and proof of insurance.

- A float or vehicle entry may be no more than 13 feet high and 10 feet wide. Floats, tractors, trucks, and tow vehicles must be fully decorated, must serve a useful function, and must not obstruct the driver's view or the safe operation of the vehicle.
- Floats should display the name of the sponsoring Krewe, organization, or business.

Safety Responsibilities
- Drivers must maintain a safe speed and distance from the entry ahead.
- Report a float or vehicle emergency to the nearest police officer immediately.
- Watch the crowd closely. If spectators move too close, ask them to return to the curb or notify the nearest police officer.
